2011 – The Year in Pictures

Things have been a bit quiet on the journal lately as the end of 2011 was a busy one with time being spent trying to finish off a Wedding Album, design Christmas Cards and fulfil Print orders before the holiday deadline arrived. Along with doing the all important Christmas shopping! The up side of this is that there’s lots of journal entries to post over the coming weeks, including a new feature in the form of our Wedding Inspiration Boards. Also stay tuned for info on our January Portraiture Sale coming very soon.

In the meantime here’s a little look back at the last 12 months…

Gail Kelly Design & Photography - 2011 The Year in Review

Portraiture – The Business and the Art

At the start of the year I had the pleasure of attending a seminar held by Trevor and Faye of Yerbury Studio entitled “Portraiture – The Business and the Art”. It was a full day’s teaching on both the marketing and the artistic side of running a portraiture photography business. It was an extremely helpful and enjoyable day, Trevor’s manner was excellent and I felt like I didn’t stop writing notes the whole time.

The morning’s session was spent focusing on marketing ideas for your business followed by an afternoon demonstrating lighting set ups. I loved Trevor’s simple yet highly effective lighting techniques, showing that classic images are always the best. Some of my images below from the day.
