About me...

Hi, my name is Gail and this is my online journal.

Here you will find examples of my design & photography work, as well as a little look into what goes on in my world.

Feel free to look around and leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you.

2011 – The Year in Pictures

Things have been a bit quiet on the journal lately as the end of 2011 was a busy one with time being spent trying to finish off a Wedding Album, design Christmas Cards and fulfil Print orders before the holiday deadline arrived. Along with doing the all important Christmas shopping! The up side of this is that there’s lots of journal entries to post over the coming weeks, including a new feature in the form of our Wedding Inspiration Boards. Also stay tuned for info on our January Portraiture Sale coming very soon.

In the meantime here’s a little look back at the last 12 months…

Gail Kelly Design & Photography - 2011 The Year in Review

At the start of October I photographed this country Wedding held at Drumkilbo House, an historic 19th century Perthshire manor house, where the 27 guests were invited to spend the whole weekend. The Bride and Groom, both serving police officers, decided that the Groom should wear his late father’s original 1960′s police uniform which was complimented by the Bride’s choice of a classic, elegant ivory dress. The Bride and Groom were keen to keep the atmosphere relaxed and personal and so chose to decorate the venue with homemade vases of fresh flowers, and tablet for favours, prepared by the Groom’s mother. The Scottish weather played its usual tricks with beautiful sunshine on the Friday and Sunday and rain all day on the Saturday, not that it dampened anyone’s spirits. After the ceremony the guests enjoyed a delicious 5 course meal before being entertained with a casino in the evening.

Venue: Drumkilbo House // Dress: June Brides // Shoes: Arabesque // Hair & Make-up: SC Make Up Artistry // Kilt Hire: Wright’s Menswear // Flowers: Coach House Flowers // Cake: Corner Bites

For me the best part of Photographing a Wedding or Portrait Session is seeing the final images come together in an Album, which is why I have decided to add some new products to the Photography Collections in the form of Coffee Table Books (perfect for Portrait Sessions) and downsized Parents Albums (great as thank you gifts after your Wedding).

Here are a few of my favourite page layouts from a recent Engagement Album Design, I will post photos of the finished product soon…

Another Engagement Shoot and fortunately another sunny day. This delightful couple got engaged whilst on holiday last summer and celebrated in style with a trip to Wimbledon. So when I realised we had managed to schedule their Engagement Shoot for the weekend of the Wimbledon tennis finals it seemed only natural to head down to the local park and make use of its tennis courts.

I’d also like to say a big thank you to the gentleman in charge of the tennis courts who kindly persuaded some people to temporarily vacate their court so we could jump in to take a few shots.

Some images from a recent Engagement Shoot which we were fortunate enough to schedule for one of the few sunny days in June. We started the day off bright and early with a trip to the Botanic Gardens before heading down to the beach to revisit the spot where the proposal took place…
